What Is A Mezzanine Floor?

print this page

A mezzanine or entresol is basically a raised platform that is independent from a buildings structure. The word Mezzanine comes from the Italian word Mezzano, meaning middle. A mezzanine is manufactured from steel and uses steel columns as supports. You can download our Mezzanine Floor Brochure for more detailed specifications.

A new mezzanine will allow you to incorporate extra space in your building. Utilizing unused space, it's an ideal expansion opportunity, especially where a very high original ground floor exists. The created intermediate floor within the building, is partly open to the double height ceilinged floor below it. Usually it does not extend over the whole floorspace of a building.

A mezzanine floor can have many uses, not only for additional storage space. It can be used for offices or enlarging your production facilities. Mezzanine Manufacturing design Commercial Mezzanines, Industrial MezzaninesRetail Mezzanines and Multi-Tier Mezzanine floors. These structures maybe semi-permanent or temporary and often save you thousands of pounds compared to relocation.

Most commercial mez floors are generally constructed of steel, aluminium and fibreglass. The decking or flooring of a mezzanine, can vary due to the application needed. Commonly it's composed of b-deck underlayment with a wooden finish. For substantial loads, heavy duty steel is used to support the floor. Depending on the size of the mezzanine, a Fire Retardant Mezzanine Floor may be required.

Mezzanine Floor Solutions

Mezzanine Manufacturing have built a wide selection of mezzanine floors, most of the time they are in warehouses as industrial mezzanines for additional storage. Once a new mezzanine floor has been installed you can utilize the space created. This can be a combination of warehouse racking or shelving. Many businesses often use one level for storage and another for offices.

In conjunction with our sister company United Storage Systems, our retail mezzanine floors can incorporate staircases, balustrade, mesh wire and panelling to create extra retail space. All these can be manufactured to specific needs and saves you looking for other companies to complete the installation.

A commercial mezzanine floor can provide a new sales area, storage or contain back office systems. They can double or even triple your working space, giving you specific areas for your business needs.
